To be GOTS certified organic, fabrics such as our organic cotton, must be grown and produced under stringent standards that relate to the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides. STSC's Organic Cotton fabrics meet the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) for fibre production and processing.
Despite being so common and so useful cotton is the thirsts crop in the world and requires 2,700 liters to produce the cotton needed to make a single t-shirt. The production process of conventional cotton also utilises a mammoth amount of pesticides which can infect local waterways, destroy the environment and harm animals. Finally the people, pesticides harmful to not only the environment but the people in the communities surrounding cotton crops. This is because food a water supplies are easily contaminated by pesticide run off causing finial hardship, disease and illness.
GOTS organic cotton is the solution! This is because the cotton is grown without the use of pesticides and harmful chemicals, using seeds which have not been genetically modified.
STSC ensures that our mills are certified to GOTS Standard as it covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of textiles. While affirming that both environmental and social standards, such as safe and hygienic working conditions, no workplace discrimination and fair pay rates, are respected.
