STSC proudly collaborates directly with the owner of this wool recycling factory, producing high-quality recycled wool textiles. We also engage an independent consultant who personally visits the facility to collect textiles and updates us on operational support. The factory holds Global Recycle Standard (GRS) Certification showing for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.
Like many recycling centers, improvements are still needed to enhance working conditions, and in particular this factory does not have solar power to enable air conditioning. Extreme heat is a growing challenge as climate change intensifies; in mid-2024, temperatures in this region reached 52.6°C. Women working in the factory, often wearing five meters of plastic-based sari fabric, decommission wool garments in non-air-conditioned warehouses. Addressing these challenges remains a priority as we continue our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. The Global Circular Network's 100 Million Threads Project aims to support this factory to instal solar to provide aircon to the factory.
